$$: New Jeans
Well, just as some days I can be out and about and not spend a penny, so too do I have days like today when I spend money without ever stepping a foot out the door.
Langston's -- $36.92
It was time to buy The Son another pair of jeans. If you'll recall, my sweet little Aspie took himself in hand over the summer and reinvented himself and his wardrobe. He's gone from wearing khakis, turtlenecks, and sweater vests to jeans, buttondowns, sweaters, and even t-shirts with graphics!
We've had trouble in the jeans department. He likes the Levi's 559's. I bought him two pair from Langston's, not at the same time, and they fit perfectly. A while later I bought a third pair from Langston's, exactly the same size (31x34), that turned out to be noticeably longer and wider. I exchanged that pair only to be sent a second pair with the same measurements We kept that second pair but at the time (this summer) they were simply too big in the waist and a bit too long for comfortable everyday wear. So we went to a local department store and bought a pair of 31x32's. They were the right size in the waist but I knew they wouldn't last very long because of the length. I was right. They're now too short. In the meantime, the first two pair of 31x34's still fit and the larger pair of 31x34's have been grown into such that they are now viable for everyday wear. So I took my chances and ordered another pair of 559's in size 31x34. We'll see what we get. Hopefully they'll be like that final pair we purchased from Langston's -- a little bit longer and a little bit wider. If not, if they're back to the same size as the two original pair, he should still get some good wear out of them. At least though the end of the school year. Unless, of course, he goes through a major growth spurt between now and then. No way to predict a growth spurt, of course, but The Son's never been a big growth-spurt kid. He's more of the slow-and-steady grower.
Grocery Cards -- $400.00
I'm not exactly sure of the date the charge was made to my credit card (it would easy enough to look up), but The Daughter finally forked over this month's grocery gift cards from the school. The school makes a certain percentage off the sale of the cards and I can pay with a credit card so it's pretty much a win-win situation. Now that I'm finally back to budgeting with YNAB3, I'm able to track my gift card purchases which has allayed my fears that I might somehow not be getting the full value of my money. By creating gift card accounts in my register, it's quite easy to see that I'm getting the full value of each and every grocery card I buy.
