Little Spent & a Little More Done

Hot School Lunch caterer -- $26.25

The only money I spent today was the check I wrote this morning to the fellow who caters hot lunches to the kids' school.

Last year our arrangement with The Daughter was that we'd pay for two hot meals per week and I'd pack meals for the rest of the week.  The arrangement was okay but The Daughter proposed that this year we give her that meal allowance and let her buy her meals when and where she chose.  We agreed.

This year The Son is a freshman and therefore is not allowed to leave campus during the school day.  As such, we have set up pretty much the same arrangement as we had last year with The Daughter -- he can choose up to two hot meals per week; I pack the rest.

The Son, a somewhat picky eater, has decided to start out slowly, trying out different meals -- about one a week.  The Daughter went through the menu and gave her opinions and he chose his monthly menu based on her recommendations.  Once he knows which menu choices he likes, which ones will require a second portion of to get through the day, and which ones to avoid, he'll probably ramp up to an average of two per week.

As for doing, today, well it was just about as light as my spending -- as far as housework goes.  I had a terrible time falling asleep last night and woke up with everyone else at 6 this morning so I had that hung-over, sleep-deprived sluggishness all day.  I did get some more work done on my store and I did clean up the kitchen and ran two loads of laundry but I didn't fold them.  I actually don't mind folding laundry but I prefer to do it while I watch TV or a movie and I didn't have anything worth watching and I didn't feel like taking the time off from my store work.

I'm hoping to get more sleep tonight and more work done tomorrow.  The Daughter has asked for the car so I probably won't get the errands done that desperately need doing.  There's plenty to do around the house though and I need to be around to encourage The Son to get his homework done -- he has a two-page story due on Monday and writing is a tremendous challenge for him.  He's incredibly bright and has an amazing vocabulary but, for whatever reason, communication -- whether verbal or written -- is downright painful.  We'll go through several stages this weekend including procrastination, stress, anger, and desperation.  This is the part of parenting an Aspie that I find so incredibly exhausting.  Just thinking about it makes me tired ;-)

Well, 'night all.
