a financial voyeur’s dream come true: all the intimate details of how, where, and why I spend money

$$: The I-Need-Protein Edition

Posted on | November 21, 2008 |

Total Spent Today: $49.75

Sherwin-Williams — ($10.00)
I started the day off right — with a return.  I finally got around to returning the color fan I had “checked out” during my exterior-color-selection ordeal.

Whole Foods — $29.75
As I’ve mentioned before, I suffer from rather extensive food allergies.  One of my more annoying and restrictive allergies is legumes.  I’m allergic to all legumes.  Add to this the fact that I seem to have a pretty high protein needs.  It’s been a couple of days of little to no protein and I was jonesing for some animal flesh (my apologies to all of you vegetarians and vegans).  Since Whole Foods is the only store from which I’ll buy fresh meat (as opposed to Applegate Farms packaged roast beef and turkey), replenishing my supply isn’t always easy.

  • 3 of the choicest thick pork chops I’ve ever seen (and the yummiest I’ve eaten in a long time) — $14.50
  • 4 whole chicken legs — $4.40
  • 1 boneless, skinless chicken breast — $4.19
  • 2 boxes of Kashi Cinnamon Harvest cereal — $2.99/ea.

[Now that I'm logging this, I realize that I was overcharged for those cereal boxes; the price on the shelf stated $3.69 per box.]

Gandi.net — $30.00
Annual renewals of two domain names — the first being that of www.dailydollardiary.com and the second being the domain name of the online children’s clothing business I’ve run (though it’s currently inactive) for the last five years.
