$$: More Clothes, More Food, and Some Returns

birds on a wire As predicted, my no-spend-day streak did not extend to a third day.  I managed to procure a vehicle for the better part of the day but to do so I had to get up and get moving earlier than I wanted to.  I won’t insult you regular working stiffs ;-) by telling you what I mean by “early.”

After getting The Son to “school” and The Husband to work, I managed to get several good errands done before having to head back to serve my volunteer hours at the homeschool co-op.

Target — ($31.52)
I returned the Vick’s humidifier with a bad fan.  I was so focused on my next errand that I forgot to check to see if they’d replenished their stock on that item.  I really will need to pick up another humidifier before too long because our one functioning humidifier simply isn’t enough.

Aeropostale — $0.00
Here I did a straight-across-the-board exchange.  After discovering that the 30x32 khakis I just bought are 1/4″ wider in the waist and 2″ longer than The Son’s current pair of 29x32’s (go figure), I decided to keep one pair of 30x32’s and trade the second pair for 31x32’s.

The boy has grown another 1/4″ in the past three weeks.  And as skinny as he appears to remain, his waist size is expanding albeit not at the same rate as his height (thank goodness).

Eddie Bauer Outlet — $51.53
I hit paydirt here.  I found three beautiful buttondowns on the clearance racks for $9.99 each.  I picked out two striped oxford cloth shirts — one in a blue scheme and one in green (originally $39.50)  The third shirt is a really soft, lightweight cotton moleskin-like fabric in a beautiful solid teal color (originally $34.50).

There was a huge selection of really handsome shirts but I was looking specifically for non-poplin fabric for the coming colder winter months.

Then, in the checkout lane (they are good at hooking us, aren’t they?), I spied hot water bottles with down bottle covers –  marked down 70%! I have been wanting a new hot water bottle for no less than 5 years.  I kid you not.  So naturally, I bought two.  Each hot water bottle and cover set was $8.85 (originally $29.50).

Eddie Bauer — ($10.80)
The Son really didn’t need three shirts (see above) — I just bought three so he could pick out which ones he wanted to keep.  He chose the green striped oxfordcloth and the solid teal shirt.  So, on the way to pick up The Husband from work, I made a quick detour to return the extra oxfordcloth.
