Suburban Wife’s Daily Dollar Diary

a financial voyeur’s dream come true: all the intimate details of how, where, and why I spend money

$$: Groceries

Posted on | October 17, 2008 |

Yeah, I know.  I went shopping yesterday.  So sue me.  I needed a few more things for The Daughter’s party and some Liquid Plumber ’cause the tub/shower is draining slowly.

Oh, as an aside — The Husband went shopping with me again today saying something getting another shrimp & rice scampi dinner.  I asked if he realized that it cost him $7.99 and he said, no, it was supposed to be on sale 2 for $5.00.  Okay, he’s my husband and I love him.  He’s smart and sexy and he loves me.  But sometimes he’s just so clueless!  I checked.  There was some kind of frozen meal in the same freezer case that was priced two for $5.00.  He’d seen the sign, picked out what he wanted, and somehow his mind had combined the two.  He did not buy himself another box today.

Kroger — $61.19

  • Smucker’s sugar free caramel topping — $3.29 (I would never buy this stuff)
  • Spring Tree pure maple syrup — $5.99
  • 1.89# navel oranges — $4.71
  • organic baby greens — $3.99
  • two containers Driscoll raspberries — $2.50/ea. (saved $3.49/ea.)
  • box of birthday candles — $0.99
  • Marie Callendar’s pot pie — $2.66
  • Hungry Man frozen dinner — $2.50
  • sheet cake — $15.99
  • Liquid Plumber — $10.89
  • Greenworks toilet cleaner — $2.99
