Colonic — $70.00
My poor IBS-racked gut really needed a tune-up after all of that anesthesia and constipation-inducing Vicodin.

[As a bit of an aside:  The Husband and I had an interesting conversation the other night about the failing economy and belt-tightening.  My point was that luxury items would be one of the first things to be cut -- and that includes personal luxuries such as manicures, pedicures, haircuts, and massages.  The problem with this type of struggling-economy-induced collective-cutback-action is that the people who provide these service are going to have the financial rug pulled out from under their (typically self-employed) feet.  One of the examples I used, in our case, was my friendly neighbor colon therapist.  The Husband immediately disagreed saying that he considered my irregularly regular colonics to be medically necessary and not at all in the same category as my every-six-years-or-so pedicure.]

Vitamin Cottage — $23.03

  • bottle of Probiotic capsules — $18.69
  • package of Amy’s frozen Macaroni & Cheese — $2.85

Dental Care — $0.00
The Son and I both had appointments at the dentist’s office today.

He went in for his bi-annual cleaning.  No charge because our insurance covers 100% of preventative care.  At the same time that the hygienist was torturing The-Son-who-despite-my-best-efforts-has-less-than-stellar-oral-hygiene-habits, the dentist was doing a minor repair on a tooth of mine that was developing a minor fracture behind an old filling.  For reasons I don’t understand but knew better than object to, there was no charge for this repair.
