Doctor Co-Pay — $25.00
I started my day the way everyone should — with a 20-minute cooling-my-heels session in my doctor’s office.

The reason for the appointment:  to get a referral/prescription for a new sleep study test.  I wasn’t sure which type of sleep study I needed (a couple of years ago I had two tests — one that revealed that I had sleep apnea and a second one to properly adjust the settings on my CPAP machine) and I wasn’t sure where to have the test done.  Obviously a consultation was called for.

Turns out it’s the second test, a CPAP titration sleep study test, that I need to repeat.

The surgeon told me to give my throat 2 months to completely heal before doing the test.  I’m anxious to get the test done before the end of the year because we’ve already met our deductible and I want to squeeze every benefit out of our policy that I can before the end of the year.

Obama Lawn Sign “Donation” — $5.00
A couple of days after my surgery, my neighbor showed up on my doorstep with an “Obama/Biden” lawn sign.  He knew I’d been trying to find one (he had been too) so when he got the email announcing that they were available, he picked up an extra one for me.  Of course, the campaign doesn’t sell the signs but they do require a $5 donation for each one.  Not that I mind.  Anyway, because I never carry cash, I couldn’t reimburse him right away.  Then I kept forgetting (I know, pretty irresponsible and un-neighborly of me).  Finally, today I remembered to make a cash withdrawl from the First Bank of The Husband.  He squawked a little when I told him what it was for but I assured him he wasn’t buying an Obama lawn sign (remember, he’s conservative and not an Obama supporter) but instead giving his loving, devoted wife a $5 bill.  What I planned to do with that cash wasn’t at issue   ;-)

Safeway — $21.24
While picking up The Son from his art class tonight, I stopped by Safeway and topped off the Impreza’s gas tank.  Gas prices sure are dropping.  I pumped 6.305 gallons @ $3.369/gallon.  The odometer reads 33,573 miles.  [As an aside:  how in the world did we put that many miles on the car since buying it new in June of last year?  As my dad would say, Good Night!]
