Pediatric Orthopedist Co-Pay — $50.00
Tomorrow it will have been four weeks since The Son broke his left clavicle (collarbone). He had a follow-up appointment this afternoon. They took two new x-rays and he seems to be laying down new bone quite nicely. We made another appointment for two weeks from now for a re-check and more x-rays. The Son is entirely sick of being in a sling but the doctor emphasized how important it was that he continue to keep it immobilized.

Entry fee for swim meet. This will be The Daughter’s first swim meet since quitting her competitive swim team just over two years ago — the summer before entering high school. It’s a 3-day meet, as most of these meets are, but The Daughter is only swimming in three events — all on Sunday.
The Daughter is, has been, and always will be a swimmer at heart. For the past two years she’s been paying basketball and volleyball for her school. She enjoys both of these sports and, even more, she loves the additional social experience with her school mates. But she loves swimming. And she’s really missed it. After much discussion, she has decided to pull back on her school sports participation and go back to full-time competitive swimming. A large part of her decision was based on the fact that she’s hoping to swim through (or for) college. We’re still investigating whether she’d be better off taking a break from the team to swim for a high school team or whether she’ll have a better chance of being noticed with the competitive team. She’s unlikely to be recruited by a big Division I team but hopefully good enough to appeal to the type of smaller school she’d like to attend.
If any of you readers have any experience with or knowledge about college sports recruiting (esp. girls’ sports and/or swimming), I’d sure love to hear from you.
