Day 190: Travel Expenses

Posted on | March 9, 2008 |

My last flight to my mom’s.  The closing is tomorrow.  The Husband took me and the children to church this morning.  From there, they all drove me out to the airport so I didn’t have to do the public transportation thing again.  As I’d planned, I left the CPAP machine and my laptop at home for expediency’s sake.  I had only one small bag with me holding some PJs and a change of shirt and undies for tomorrow.  I forgot the rules and took my tube of toothpaste with me which naturally had to be thrown out because it contained more than the 3.x fluid ounces allowed in carry-on baggage.

Concessions — $2.69
A huge bottle of Aqua Fina water once I’d passed through the security obstacle course and had settled down for my 2 hour wait before boarding began.

Holiday Inn — $77.20
One night’s stay for me and my mom tonight.  Thank goodness for AARP discounts.

The house — after many, many hours tonight — is finally clean and completely empty of all of my mom’s possessions.  The car is jammed, as I had expected it would be.  We won’t be able to fit it all in the car along with the dog and my nephew who is coming up for his annual 2-week spring visit.  My sister will bring up the few things we had to leave behind when she drives up to retrieve her son 2 weeks from now.  Most of the stuff will stay in my mom’s car for the month or 6 weeks that it stays at our house.  Sometime later this spring she’ll fly back and she and I will drive the car east together.
