Day 137: Gas, Burgers, Co-Pays, & 3M Highlighters
Posted on | January 16, 2008 |
Today was a very long day. My pain level was running awfully high today but luckily my errands and responsibilities kept me out of stores and helped avoid any unfortunate SWI (Shopping While Impaired) mistakes.
After running my first errand (volunteering my time, no expenses), I stopped to fill up The Tank’s tank. I was home just long enough to post today’s Kids & Money thoughts (luckily written last night) before heading out to get The Daughter to her Dr.’s appointment. From there, I met The Husband and The Son at the already-in-progress cello lesson. And, as always, The Son and I went from the lesson across town in a bitter cold not-so-terrible rush-hour commute to orchestra rehearsal.
So, without further delay (because, really, I’m barely staying awake) here are today’s expenditures:
Safeway — $44.97
The Tank’s tank was down to 1/4 full so I applied the $0.10/gallon discount I recently earned. I pumped 17.042 gallons @ $2.639/gallon. The odometer read 118,886.
Hand Specialist — $50.00
Co-pay for The Daughter’s appointment with a hand specialist to check the status of her recent pinkie sprain. Apparently the ligaments are healing well. The splint was removed and thrown away and a couple pair of buddy straps were dispensed to be used for the next 6 weeks. I wonder how much the insurance company will be charged for those buddy straps?
Wendy’s — $3.86
The Son’s usual Wednesday dinner at Wendy’s — two hamburgers and a medium vanilla frosty.
Office Max — $13.91
- A 3-pack of 3M Post-It Flag Highlighter pens. Looks like a very cool idea but the highlighter flunked its first test and made my print bleed so bad I could hardly read it. I’ll give the pens another test run or two but I’ll be more than slightly PO’d if they prove to be a bust.
- A 4-pack package of sticky phone message pads. The Daughter is good about checking for phone messages but not so good about actually telling the message recipient that someone called. Gotta work on that.
Performance Center — $8.00
A single ticket for me to go see The Son’s concert on Saturday night. I’ll be going solo, again, because The Daughter has a game that night and The Husband will be in charge of getting her to the game and home again. Sigh.
