Day 97: Groceries

Posted on | December 7, 2007 |

Vitamin Cottage — $39.29

  • Whole wheat pastry flour — $2.59 (saved $0.40)
  • Kettle potato chips — $2.19
  • 3 cans Muir no-salt tomato sauce — $1.25/ea (saved $0.30/ea)
  • 3 cans Muir tomato sauce — $1.25/ea (saved $0.30/ea)
  • 2.89 lb. bag of organic rolled oats — $2.89
  • colby longhorn cheese — $4.52
  • bottle of 60 Probiotic capsules — $18.69
  • applied manufacturer’s coupon on Muir tomato product — ($1.00)

Kroger — $5.00

  • Kroger Raisin Bran cereal — $1.89
  • 1/2 gallon Horizon chocolate milk — $2.99 (saved $3.49)

The Husband stopped for the items at Kroger’s at my request.  He was duly impressed when I told him that I’d gone to the Vitamin Cottage for the expressed purpose of picking up some chocolate milk for him but balked when I discovered that the price on their quarts was $2.09.  I knew that the Kroger price was less than $1.00 more for twice as much.  Who couldn’t love a man who will more than willingly do a grocery run on the way home — especially when it’s below freezing and threatening to snow?
