Day 14

Published by Suburban Wife under home, food, Daily $$'s

The Home Depot — $87.25
First trip — waiting to hear from the handyman so we can figure out which jack hammer I should rent. While waiting, I naturally shopped around and found a few things I just had to have. Tools: rake, square “transfer” shovel”, and an inexpensive, simple electric trimmer/edger. Consumables: Revive lawn conditioner in spray bottle and a bottle of concentrate refill.

The Home Depot — $61.72
Second trip — the handyman finally showed and decided he wanted the larger jack hammer. The Son was forced to accompany me so he could pick out a pair of work gloves and his own hammer (at 13, it’s obvious that he’s outgrown his small, lightweight kids hammer). In addition to the hammer and gloves, we also bought a how-to landscaping book.

The Home Depot — $65.10
Third trip — rental charge for 4 hours of jack hammer rental. I dropped one of the blades and inadvertantly picked it up on the greasy end. Severely slimed my hand and the tennis shoe the blade fell on. Bummer. And required cleaning solution; see additional entry.

The Home Depot — $32.24
While returning the jack hammer, The Son (again, required to accompany me, this time to help unload) and I picked out a wheelbarrow. Every home owner needs a wheelbarrow, don’t they?

Kroger — $30.58
Butter, ground beef, liquid dish detergent, ice cream, and Goop hand cleaner ;-)

Handyman — $60.00
Labor to complete first stage of removing shed foundation plus removed 2/3 of cement footer for firewood storage on other side of house.
