Suburban Wife’s Daily Dollar Diary

a financial voyeur’s dream — all the intimate details of how, where, and why I spend money

Day 1

Posted on | September 2, 2007 |

Church — $15.00
Weekly offering.

Einstein Bros. Bagels — $12.49
A (baker’s) dozen plain bagels plus 2 tubs of plain (full-fat) cream cheese.

Wild Oats — $14.54
Sushi, drinks, and a cookie for lunch after Church.

Wild Oats — $16.96
Pizza, Stress Mints, and tortillas at another Wild Oats because the first store was out of stock on the tortillas and their pizza oven was on the blink.

The Maytag Store — $1,756.18
A new refrigerator! I’m 43 years old and this is the first time I’ve ever owned a new fridge. It’s an Amana Bottom Freezer, French-door model in Black, model #AFD2535DEB. The price includes the fridge itself, the water line kit (for the ice-maker and water dispenser), delivery and haul-away charges, the 5-year extended warranty, and tax. The Daughter is excited because the new fridge has a water dispenser inside the door. I’m looking forward to having an ice maker and to not having my milk go bad every other day. I think that The Husband will like the energy savings — our old fridge, otherwise known as The Ghetto Fridge because we’ve needed duct tape to keep the door closed ever since last Christmas, must be costing us a fortune to run.
